An Actual Spring Break Day!

Today will be our only real day this week to have some "spring break" time. Steve actually has the daytime off (he still has to work graveyard tonight) so we're going to be having fun today! YAY! I'm pretty to just get my butt off the computer, and get to it! (Not only do we get to do "spring break" activities, but it's not snowing today! YAY!)
Enjoy today, for you'll never know when you'll look back and say, "I'm so glad we did that." People don't look back at their lives and think of how they could have spent MORE time at work, or more time just perfecting their typing! Get out and enjoy the day! :)

Next Stop...Complaint Central

Because I'm not quite done complaining yet...
After posting on here last night, I checked my voicemail to see who I'd missed. The first unheard message was from my friend, L. (You remember her, right? The one I had to STOP babysitting for!?) Anyway, she was wondering if I wouldn't mind being her "back-up" babysitter. Are you KIDDING!? Uh, NO!! Now I have to find a way to tell her. Doesn't being someone's "back-up" mean that they could dump their kids on you without prior knowledge?? That's the problem I had with her BEFORE!! I'm dreading her next call (and I know her...she WILL call me again, and again...) Honestly, I'm so nervous about it, I dreamed about it ALL night long!! (Although, I DID sleep better!)
I also remembered something that can help put into perspective, what's going on with Cam. While I was back in the recovery room with Cam, my mom wasn't allowed in the room (too many parents in a cramped room...not good!) So she sat by a lady and her son who had been there before we got there. When Dr. S went to double check Cam's order, he waved at them. My mom, being who she is, sat down to talk. She found out that the lady AND her son both have NF1, and the son, who was almost 17, had a football sized tumor in his belly last year. It was the one that had turned and cancerous! He had gone through the surgery and chemo, and they were there for an MRI to make sure he didn't have anymore! When I heard THIS story, I freaked!! This could be me! (It also might NEVER happen to me...) Just knowing that Cam has MORE tumors inside scares me. How am I to know now when he complains of a tummy ache that it's not just him being sick, wanting attention, or these DUMB tumors?? It's all a bit overwhelming, and frustrating too! I guess I'll just deal with this new thing the way I always with it, learn from it, and go ON with my life!
Update: And as a NEW feature to my blog, since NF1 is SO much a part of my life now...I've got links to information about NF1 in my sidebar.

Plexiform Neurofibromas

I'm exhausted! It was quite a trip!
First, the preliminary news from the MRI. Cam does NOT have a tethered cord. (YAY!) But the lymph nodes that were of interest most likely AREN'T lymph nodes. The radiologist isn't positive, but it looks like those are really plexiform neurofibromas (aka benign tumors.) The GOOD thing: they haven't grown! But, these kinds of tumors have a high likelihood of becoming the nasty, fast-growing, cancerous tumors. If he has ANY abdominal pain...we NEED to get him in immediately! Dr. S is going to have the radiologist at Shriner's look at it (she's their expert) to make sure it's what they think it is. What does this mean?? We have to take him down to SLC every so often to keep a close eye on these tumors, make sure they aren't growing, and that they aren't causing his spine problems (one is right ON the spine!) This means MRIs for us at least once a year...probably more! Dr. S didn't seem concerned right NOW, but if he has pain, then it could be signs of problems. He says that he'll most likely recommend a follow-up MRI in 6 months.
Otherwise, he's a normal kid! YEAH, RIGHT!
We went down last night and attempted to check into the hotel. The receptionist lady gave us a room, made us some keys, and showed us where to go. We went to the door, and tried our keys. NOTHING! The door wouldn't open for me OR my mom!! I went back to the desk, and told the lady our problem. It felt like the door had been dead-bolted from the inside. She called the maintenance man to get the door open for us. He came, and opened it only to find that the room had open suitcases, and clothing strewn all over the room. UH.... He asked us if they were ours, and we told him no, he began laughing. They had assigned us someone else's room! The maintenance man was SUPER nice, and called the front desk for us, getting us an UNOCCUPIED room! We were REALLY glad that no one was IN the room at the time!
Cam and I ended up sharing a bed, and I slept LOUSY! The kid kicked me in the back the WHOLE night, and I really missed Steve!! We ended up going to bed at 9:30 (which is like 3 hours too early for me...) and I ended up waking up at 5:15! I guess it was okay, I was really close to my required 8 hours, but still!!
We went in for the MRI, and we stopped in the genetics clinic to talk with Dr. S. He took us to the medical imaging to double check that what he was ordering was RIGHT. Then he told us that the forms I had filled out for the other study gave them permission to get copies of the MRIs! YAY!! No need for convincing the radiologist to share!! HE HAD TO!! *Mwhahahahaha*
We waited to go back for about 15 minutes, and waited in the BACK room for another hour and 15 minutes before they took him in for the scan. (My mom commented on how it was a good thing we had to be there at that time it was 10:00!)
While waiting for the scan, a nurse stopped by to tell me that I had some family waiting for me in the waiting room. I was confused, my MOM was confused...I went to see who was there. It was Dr. S's assistant, Heather! Apparently, the nurses had told her that there wasn't any room for her to come back with us, but I was feeling ornery, and took her back. We filled out the paperwork, and they took Cam back for the scan. I waited, since I would have had to take off my watch, earrings, take the keys out of my pocket, leave my jacket there....Grandma took Cam back to the room...he SCREAMED over and over, "I want to go HOME!!" Finally the screaming stopped...honestly, that medicine is MIRACULOUS!! Then we went to eat breakfast, and wait. He was done in 45 minutes! (Much faster than his last visit...4 hours!) It took him a while to come out of the drug-induced stupor, and finally, we could wheel him was 1:30!! We went to the genetics clinic to talk with Dr. S, again, and he consulted with Dr. V, the doctor who initially discovered NF1, and they decided to look at the MRI and give us preliminary results.
After waiting around for another hour, we got the results, and we were off! I drove both there and back, but it wasn't so bad. It rained a lot, and at one point the wind was so bad that I couldn't see out the window (with the wipers going...) but we made it back in one piece! I even got to listen to a book on the drive. Made me laugh and cry!! (GOOD BOOK!)
Now, I just want to get home to my bed...that's comfy, soft, and filled with my SWEET husband! But I have to wait while he's at play practice, and while I type this up! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my little boy! :)

Crazy Monday

My Life Monday will have to wait for me!
Today I'm off for Cameron's second MRI. I just looked online at the hotel I booked a spot at, ugh...I should have looked there FIRST! It's kind of a crappy place, but I guess you get what you get when you book a room for only $39!! Sheesh!
I had to take Steve to his pneumonia doctor visit today. It went well...although when we had scheduled the appointment we completely forgot that Cam had Spring Break! DUH!! We were just a little distracted! Anyway, he's doing well, but still has a major cough. So the doctor prescribed him some heavy duty cough meds. We went to the bank (hooray for cool doctors who pay YOU to see them!) and then made a trip to the Walmart pharmacy. They told Steve that it would take 25 minutes for the prescription to be was already 10:30. I guess he wasn't thinking, because he had to leave town at 11:00 to get to work for today (which I didn't realize was OUT of town today!) So we wandered around for the time, and the when it was time to pick it up, the pick up line was HUGE, so we decided to just leave, and he'd go back later to pick it up. We hurried to my mom's house and he dropped us off and was off! What a punk....I can't quite read his mind, yet. Guess that's something in our marriage that we need to work on!
Tomorrow we have the MRI, and I'm going to attempt to convince the radiologist to share his information with U of U, so we only have to do ONE scan. I hope I can be convincing!
Here's a funny story to get you by:
Yesterday at church it was CRAZY!! I substituted in Primary for the chorister, and I was really excited. I had planned on dropping off the poster that she made IN the primary room before I went to sacrament meeting, but when I opened the door I noticed the room was FILLED with people. Uh...I had forgotten there was a class going on!
Then I went to Sacrament Meeting...poster in hand, and it was just me and Cameron (Steve had just gotten off work and was sleeping.) I found a bench and sat down. While waiting for the meeting to start I waved to a little girl who I have a special spot in my heart for. (Our first week in that ward, she had CLUNG to me in the nursery room. I guess she thought I was her mom, and she didn't want to be alone!) She instantly changed courses! She came over and said, "I want to sit by YOU." I tried to convince her that sitting by her family would be better, but she was NOT easily persuaded! Her mom came in and had that look on her face that said, "Where is my daughter!?" I showed her where she was, and she asked if it was okay if she sat by me. I said that was fine, and Becca was INSTANTLY attached to me. For the rest of the meeting I was distracted by her laying on me, her fighting with Cam, or her playing dead across the WHOLE bench! Yeah, it was fun! But when her dad got up to bear his testimony, she decided that she could sit with her family again! She's so funny!
Then in Primary, the kids were WILD!! I got a chance to talk to my friend who is moving. I'm really going to miss her! I did singing time, and then I went up to the nursery. I guess there was a sign on my forehead that said, "Today is the day for sitting ON or BY me." As soon as I went into nursery the kids attacked!! I was given the biggest group hug I think I've ever had!! I began by singing "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" and I try to do an action for them...keeping them entertained. Instead of jumping out of their chairs, I make them make "sunbeams" with their hands, and while I was singing and doing the action one little girl came up just a little TOO close. I nicked her chin...causing blood! Uh, yes, I'm the one who abuses sweet innocent nursery kids. She wasn't fazed by it, but by the end of singing time, I was mauled by 5 kids at ONCE!
The funny thing about this WHOLE experience?? I loved EVERY MINUTE of it! I was completely in my element. I really MISS Sunday primary! I hope that SOMEDAY I will feel the same way about my scouts! Someday....

What would your ultimate dream date be?
I know you conspired with
Uh, I did say what my perfect date was LAST week, but since I know you are talking about what we're doing for Steve's birthday...
Okay, some background information for those who are completely LOST:
Today Steve didn't have to be to work until 6:00 tonight (so he's not even there yet...) and so we decided to go to Olive Garden for lunch (soup and and yummy!) Then after that we went to a themed hotel in town for a tour. We've decided that for Steve's birthday this year we're going to stay in one of the rooms there. We joked that since we never got a honeymoon, we'll take one this year, but on Steve's 30th birthday. (I've been wondering what to do for this birthday for him, and decided to just ask him what he wanted...he said THIS!) We'll probably drop Cameron off (who wants a child along on a date??) Then we'll either go out for dinner, or eat something at home, then we'll check into the hotel for some FUN! ;) The nice thing about this place, they provide cheesecakes and sparkling cider upon arrival, and they bring you a continental breakfast to your door the next can totally stay IN your room, and just enjoy your day! Personally, I'm thinking the hot tubs looked like TONS of fun! ;)
So my ULTIMATE dream date would be a hotel room with all the amenities!

Do you like white or wheat bread best? Do you call it hot chocolate or cocoa? What do you love best about the town you live in? :D
I like white bread, yeah, boring, I know...
There's a difference between hot chocolate and cocoa?? Hmm...I did NOT know that...
I love that when you drive down the road, and see someone you know, that they will wave! LOVE that small hometown feeling!

WHAT ROOM? WHAT ROOM? WHAT ROOM? WHAT ROOM?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I already told you. I'm NOT telling anyone! But, just to satisfy you: *PSSST* It's one of the rooms on the website! :D We liked these rooms: England, Morocco, Thailand, Hawaii, Venice, Rome, Congo, Arabia and New York...AND IT IS one of those!
Uh, as an update, I just looked at the question that Suzanne asked (BOY, AM I DUMB OR WHAT!?) And I noticed that on the second question, she asked WHAT I call it! LOL I call it hot chocolate! Sometimes it's cocoa, but mostly I call it hot chocolate! *DUH* Call me a blonde!

How much dope would a dope dealer deal if a dope dealer didn't deal dope?
Also...what's your favorite pie? :)
LOVE that question, and quite appropriate for this week! :P
If a dope dealer didn't deal dope, then there would be no dope for the dope dealer to deal...unless the dealer had doped his brain, then he'd be dealing himself...the dope!!
And my favorite pie is pumpkin, but I can only eat it around Thanksgiving or Christmas. I feel that it's a seasonal treat, even though you can really eat it any time you want! :)

A REAL Post!

Just for Mattsmom (who by the way, STILL needs to find a new name...) I will update quickly on my life!
  • I'm HIGHLY annoyed with my younger brother right now. He just moved BACK in with my parents two days ago and is already pulling all sorts of crap! (The other brother found drugs...NICE!) I just want to strangle him!! DORK!!
  • I'm totally addicted to my message board. Love it...but will have to keep it a secret...LOL!! Actually, it's tons of fun, and I love it!
  • Steve is recovering nicely. He's been able to sleep completely through the night for THREE consecutive nights now! YAY!! He's also not coughing as hard or as much! I'm so happy!
  • Cameron is actually being a WONDERFUL child. I know for a while there he was a holy terror, but now, he's polite, obedient, and helpful! I love this child, and hope he decides to stay PERMANENTLY!!
  • I've got my hotel room secured for Monday night, but now I'm in the middle of trying to figure out how to get the MRI to the study. Both Primary's and U of U want an MRI of Cameron, but it would be a HUGE hassle to do two in one day, so I'm going to try calling the medical imaging today and see what I need to do to get them to share information. STUPID HIPPA!!
  • I'm babysitting again. Well, just for an hour or so, but YAY! A baby in the house again! How fun!

That's it. Well, and the fact that Aunt Flo decided to show up two days ago and knocked me flat on my butt yesterday, but that's what happens when your body works properly! *sigh*

Oh, and be prepared for Free-for-all Friday tomorrow...I expect deep questions from y'all!!

I STILL Love You...

Happiness is HERE again! :)
If I'm not around for a while, excuse me...I'm back to my OTHER obsession! (But don't worry, the novelty will wear off soon...I hope!)

My Life Monday: Embarrassing Moments

Okay a few things before I do MLM.
  • Had to take Cameron to a surgical center today for some pretty heavy duty dental work. They have to put him to sleep, because he just couldn't handle staying awake...easier....blah... So he had 3 teeth pulled (one of the teeth had the permanent one coming up underneath can totally see it!) The one tooth had a root break off, and since you aren't supposed to bother new permanent teeth (according to the dentist) the root piece will have to work it's way out...kinda like a normal baby tooth would. Then he ended up getting another sterling silver crown (he grinds his teeth, and ground through a previous one!) Then he had 3 fillings. It wasn't as bad as I had expected, but it wasn't fun either!! We were there for the majority of the morning, and had to stay extra time because Cam was feeling nauseous (and DID throw up) and just wouldn't stay awake. Note to self: anesthesia makes Cameron nauseous...REMEMBER THIS!!
  • Steve is doing marvelously! (Well, if you consider coughing his lungs out marvelous!) He was awake for most of the night last night, but he did get 3 consecutive hours of sleep!! It's not a huge step, but it's a good one! (And I've noticed he's been coughing less....thank heaven for blessings!)
  • And Cameron is going to be getting his second sedated MRI next Tuesday. Mom and I are just now starting to get hotel accommodations ready...we're such the procrastinators!
  • Oh, and ONE more thing...Dancing with the Stars is back!! YAY!! Mondays now have meaning again...since Heroes is on hiatus! (Poopy on those people who schedule big gaps between cliff hangers!! POO!) And I have a small connection to the show this time: the partner for Apollo Anton Ono is the niece of a man in my mom's ward. (Yeah, not a CLOSE connection, but I can say, "Hey!! I know that gal's uncle!")

Now that the pertinent information is done with...on with the show!

This week's topic is an embarrassing moment. GOSH!! Do I have to pick just ONE!? (hee hee)

Actually, I've had MANY moments in my life...if you ever want to get some dirt on me, just ask my friend Carrie, she's got a TON of stories!! And since she knows most of my embarrassing moments, I'll try to share two that she may not know!

The first one happened the summer I was engaged. My mom and I were getting ready to go to a women's fireside with Janice Kapp Perry. I was going to ask my mom some question, and I knew she was in her bathroom. Now my dad is a carpenter...therefore, he built (and is currently building) his house. Since he's been building the house, there is no door handles on my parents' master bathroom. I didn't think a thing about it, so I wandered into my mom's bathroom, thinking I could ask her the question, and leave. I got MORE than I bargained for! My dad was standing in the middle of the room STARK naked!! I got a view of EVERYTHING!! I immediately turned around, covered my peripheral vision, and went to the living room where I sat down and started silently singing Hymns.

A few minutes later my dad came out of his bathroom to find me on the couch. He was giggling and said, "Huh, you got an eyeful, did ya!?" (I can STILL hear his throat chuckle as he said this to me!!) The whole time he tried to talk to me I REFUSED to look him in the eye!! I mumbled something agreeable, and tried to think HAPPY thoughts!! (And when we went to the fireside, the stake president was on the stand, and I just knew that he could just look at me and know that I had just seen my dad naked...I just knew it!)

The second one just happened THIS week. I was talking with my neighbor. She and I are pretty good friends, and I had substituted in Primary for her and her husband. Her father-in-law is my landlord. So whenever I want to know what's going on with our building, I can talk to her. We started talking about how crappy my apartment is compared to most of the other apartments. I joked that we'd gladly move for a few weeks to get it upgraded. Usually what Gary (our landlord) will do is he'll wait for a family to move out of an apartment and he'll totally remodel the flooring, new paint, new carpeting....

Anyway, she told me that they were currently putting a new floor into apartment #23, and she told me that the place was vacant, and I should just go down and see what they were doing. I got really excited, grabbed my shoes, grabbed Cameron and we were off.

We opened the door, and I noticed the basement door was open, and there was banging coming from the basement. I didn't want to be in there if someone else was too, so I started to grab Cameron's hand when he suddenly yelled out, "ANYBODY HERE!?"

Then an angry man's voice yelled back, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" It sounded like Gary, so I grabbed Cam's hand and we hurried to our van where we promptly left, and I counted to three in my head over and over and over!! I was just mortified!!

The next day I talked to Christy about it, and she was shocked. Gary hadn't been there, and even her HUSBAND told me that no one should have been there. They couldn't imagine someone doing that! Right now it's not so embarrassing, but at the time....ugh!

Blessings in Disguise

I feel blessed, but in a round-about way.
For the last week or so, Steve has had a NASTY cough. It sounds like he's going to hack up a lung or something. It's been bad, but we thought it was just another cold, and that eventually he'd get over it. Well, time went on and it just seemed to get worse. PLUS he would be fevered and get clammy and just not feel good.
So yesterday, after I got back from Cam's Primary activity (which I'll have to tell about another time...) he was still feeling pretty icky, and his shift at work had been moved. So we decided, it's time to bite the bullet and go see a doctor.
We took him to a local urgent care center, and waited...and waited....and waited. Finally, they took us back to a room where we waited some MORE! (We were there for about an hour and a half.) Anyway, in that time they did a test for flu, a chest x-ray, and a blood draw. In the end they determined that the man has pneumonia. That's NOT what we had expected!
Luckily, the Physician's Assistant that was there told us that there is a study that a local doctor is doing ON pneumonia, and if we were interested, they'd sign us up for it. The study would totally cover any doctors visits, medications, and would even PAY US! We were ALL for that, so we waited while the PA got a hold of the doctor in charge of the study.
He sent us on our way, x-rays in hand and a lighter heart! (The main reason we'd put off going to the doctor was the cost of it....but with this study, we didn't have that worry any more!)
The doctor greeted us and started everything going. Steve will be taking a drug (we don't know which one) either a new one being tested, or the old tried-and-true method. He'll be getting x-rays, blood draws, and some EKGs. It's all pretty interesting.
The only thing I'm REALLY worried about now is how he can keep his cool when he gets his blood drawn. The man CANNOT handle needles of ANY kind!! He literally sweats bullets!! (Well, not "bullet" bullets...but his sweating is pretty BAD!) And I had to hold him down for 2 of the draws yesterday. He needed me to lean on! I just hope he'll get used to these tests, and not worry about them so much! (Both I and the lady who took his blood commented on how it's a good thing HE'S not the one who has to have babies!!)
I had been worried about him all week. His coughing was keeping him awake at night, but since he's so thoughtful, he'd leave the room so I could sleep. But now, I'm so much happier!! I know he'll be getting better soon! And I know that if anything, Heavenly Father was watching out for my small family! I'm so blessed!

Why Charlie Makes Me Laugh

Okay, I've never done this before, so bear with me.
I was at my parents' house today, and my brother, who ALWAYS cracks me up, showed me the stupidest, funniest thing I've seen in a while! Enjoy! (And maybe for fun, let's see how many times the word "Charlie" is said!!)

And I actually counted, so I know! *mwhahahahaha*

Maybe next time we'll count how many times "Candy Mountain" is said!! :P

And for your Friday question... why does Dave always yell at Alvin so? It's not like Simon and Theodore all that much better!
Scrappy: You're WAY ahead of me today! ;)
You know, I think Dave always yelled at Alvin because he was the instigator of most of the things they did. He was the master-mind behind their many adventures. He was also the oldest, and don't parents USUALLY yell at the older children more than the younger ones!? (At least, that's how it was in MY family growing up!)
P.S. If you want real cookies...and have a few hours to fly here, I've made some SUPER yummy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies! New recipe for me, and I love them!

Here's a question for you... a little bit of movie trivia, actually. You have to tell me WHAT movie it was from, and what the answer was to that question.
How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?
(I've been watching kids' movies for WAAAAAY too long!)
You know me TOO well!! (And my love of anything goofy!)
I'm saying it to myself (in a goofy way...)
Okay, first off, the movie is A Goofy Movie, one of my ALL time favorites!!
Goofy asks Max, in a sleepy voice, "How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?" Then Max answers, "Uh... three and a half? " That satisfies Goofy enough for him to roll over, sound asleep again!
I think that brought back MORE memories than I thought it would!! I think I may have to watch that today!! LOL

plain or peanut?
what's your idea of a perfect date?
Plain!! :) (Chunky gets caught in my teeth, and it hurts! But I like it too!)
A perfect date is one where Steve and I both have a good time, usually it's dinner and a movie. Whoever chooses the place we eat the OTHER chooses the movie. (But we try REALLY hard to pick places that we can BOTH be happy!) Then we come home, and....well, you get the idea! ;)
If you wanted to know what my perfect dates WERE:
The BEST date was one where Steve and I were just dating. We were poor college/newly off mission peoples! So we walked around ISU campus talking and finding places to keep warm. I just love times when Steve and I talk and talk! (One of my BEST memories is when we sat out on my mom's trampoline and talked for hours!)

What in the World is Going On!?

All day long I've been asking myself many times just one question, "What in the WORLD is going on?"
The first major thing is the city is demolishing our street. SURE, they say it's to fix the water lines, but COME ON!! Ripping up the WHOLE freakin' street? Okay, so what I'm saying is going a LITTLE too far! They've just torn a HUGE hole in the road, put up orange cones, and made such a ruckus...What in the world is going on?

Then after coming home from taking Cameron to school I watch one of my staples of morning time, The View. Yes, I know, I'm weird, but I really like the hot topics portion (especially since Rosie joined the seems to be SUPER juicy now!) Anyway, they started talking about that guy who confessed to helping mastermind a bunch of terrorist things, and Rosie goes OFF! (It's kinda what I watch for!) She begins by bashing the President and the current leaders. Then she starts to complain that we no longer live in a country where people WANT to live. (I'm not sure if that's EXACTLY what she meant, but that's how I took it.) I determined to find out more about what she was ranting about! (And when I find my answers, I'll probably share them!) What in the world is going on!?

Then I do my morning check of the Internet, including my comments here, my board, and my email. I got THE weirdest email from my Grandma Sue. (LOVE the woman, but she does things that just crack me up sometimes!) She forwarded an email my aunt sent her. She prefaced it with, "This is so cute!" I'm all excited, mostly thinking, "Hey, I'll get to see cute pictures of my cousins!" The pictures open and there's ONE with one of my cousins in it (he's flossing his teeth with his kite string...) but the rest?? They're pictures of baby goats!! WHAT!? What in the world is going on?!

Then during naptime (when Cam is LAYING on top of me on our couch) the phone rings. I ignore it, but can't seem to let it go in my mind. I try to gently get out from underneath Cam to see if there's a message, and find there isn't one, but who was it that called?? My husband's boss! Steve is at work, Jason KNOWS this, he scheduled the MAN!! HELLO!!? What in the world is going on?!

Then, because I'm so NOT good at getting UP from underneath Cam while letting him SLEEP, he's awake, and I decide to check the mail. I pull a whole pile out of the box, mostly junk mail, but it's all addressed to my NEIGHBOR!! The mail-person, whoever they were, mixed up the mail, and has the whole thing moved DOWN one box....for the entire complex!! What in the world is going on?!

And now, I'm all alone, for the moment, Cam is at therapy, Steve is STILL working, I'm actually folding laundry and taking care of things when Steve calls me. He asks me to look OUT the window! Uh, WHAT!? Which window!? Does it matter that I'm upstairs folding clothes?? "Oh," he says, "Never mind!" No, you got me up and wandering to windows, WHAT!? He tells me that from his work they see a HUGE smoke cloud, and he was wondering if our apartment was on fire! UH!? If the house was on fire, would I be answering the phone?? Wouldn't I try to find a way to let you know!? No, honey, we're fine!! Now I'm wondering, what in the world is going on!?

And finally, for now, I come BACK online, I check my usual sites, blog, email, and board. The board is NOT up! In fact, it says that there is a problem connecting! UGH! I check the original board (which has been down for a month now...) and it's STILL down. What in the world is going on!?

If you can answer any of these questions for me, with a decent answer, I'll give you cyber cookies!! (And I've been thinking alternate universe COULD be an answer...)
And now an answer that MAY help me was the "ides of March!" D'oh!!

How to be Your Own Psychoanalist

When I was growing up I took MANY of these tests, and this one seemed here we go! :)
Psychoanalyze Yourself.
Answer the following questions with the first thought that comes to mind. Then read which each answer means. (No cheating! )
1. You are not alone. You are walking in the woods. Who is with you? Steve
2. You are walking in the woods. You see an animal. What kind of animal? beautiful young deer
3. What interaction takes place between you and the animal? We both stare at one another, then the deer leaves.
4. You walk deeper in the woods. You enter a clearing, and before you is your DREAM house: Brick house with nice porch. Two stories...main floor and basement. It's not too big, but it's not small either. 3 bedrooms upstairs with master bath. Large kitchen that's open and airy. Basement is finished and has 2 bedrooms with decent family room.
5. Is your dream house surrounded by a fence? Only around the sides and back...front is open.
6. You enter the house. You walk in to the dining room and see: A table with dishes piled on it (yeah, I don't even wash dishes in my mind...) Cam is hiding under the tablecloth. (Crumbled bits of cereal and bread on the floor.)
7. You exit the house and a cup is on the ground, what kind is it? Blue Tupperware tumbler with scratches in it.
8. What do you do with the cup? Look inside, and leave it where it is.
9. You walk to the edge of the property where you find yourself standing at the edge of a body of water. What kinda body of water is it? A HUGE lake one goes fishing, swimming and boating in. I can't see the whole thing from where I am.
10. How will you cross the water? *points to boat*
1. The person who you are walking in the woods with is the most important person in your life.
2. The size of the animal is representative of your perception of the size of your problems in your life.
3. The severity of the interaction you have with the animal is representative of how you deal with your problems.
4. The size of your dream home is representative of the size of your ambition to solve your problems.
5. A lack of a fence is indicative of an open personality. People are welcome at all times. The presence of a fence indicates a closed personality. You'd prefer people not drop by unannounced.
6. If your answer did NOT include food, flowers, or people, then you are generally unhappy.
7. The durability of the material with the cup is made of is representative of the perceived durability of your relationship.
8. What you did with the cup is representative of your attitude.
9. The size of the body of water is representative of the size of your sexual desire.
10. The way you cross the water is representative to how easy or hard you expect your life to be.

Not Coasting Anymore...

I just finished with scouts, and boy are my arms tired...okay....CHEAP joke!! Actually, my hair follicles are sore...just from making static electricity for their balloon game! (Good thing I don't worry about what I look like, huh!?) Today's scouts went MUCH better than last week. We've learned to close off the primary room (keeping the boys away from the piano and chalk boards...) They did get a little rowdy, but that's to be expected, right!?
This was my last week of just "coasting" along though. Next month is MY month for den meetings. I'm so nervous!! Next month's topic is Cub Café, which to me means cooking. But we have a pretty BIG problem...we meet for den meeting in the church, and there are signs ALL over the kitchen that say, "The kitchen is NOT for cooking and preparing food. It's for reheating food. Please do not cook in here." SO....I have a bit of a problem! There was ONE suggestion in the handbook for no-cook fudge. I'll probably do that, but I'm seriously considering making the boys come up with some rules. They're so disrespectful, and rude sometimes it's just annoying! So I'm thinking, make a code-of-conduct, discussing expectations that sort of thing, then doing a relay race with a tray and a ball (pretending to be a waiter...) and making either a cookie mix, or the no-bake fudge stuff. Then giving the boys some of the finished treat to take home. I don't really know exactly what I'm going to do, but here's a rough draft!

And just for fun today, here's some pictures from my last "professional" photo shoot! Enjoy! (And try not to be jealous of my BEAUTIFUL eyes!)

Naptime Interrupted

Naptime is for naps, right!? Ugh, not today! First, I fall asleep before Cam (what usually happens...) Then in the middle of our nap, Steve wakes up and comes to my side of the bed (Yes, we nap in my bed...all 3 of us...) where he's left the cell phone. He bumps Cam's glasses OFF my nightstand, I tell him to pick them up. To which he tells me, "Don't wake him!"
After Steve leaves, my hip begins to hurt like none other, which means, rolling time....I have to roll both me AND Cameron over, since he sleeps ON my arm. I get settled, Cam breathes he's awake. He FINALLY falls back to sleep...I do too, then our lovely, dovey, FANCY-DANCY phone rings...waking us up for good!!
Naptime is for naps...except when naptime only lasts 20 minutes...tops!
(Yes, I'm whining....can you tell what time of the month it is?!)

My Life Monday: The Me Not So Many People Know

This week's topic is REALLY hard for me, mostly because I tell my WHOLE life story on my blog. I thought, well, most people I know (in REAL life) don't know I have phonophobia, but you do....
Most people I know (irl) don't know I have a slipper obsession, but you do....
Most people I know (irl) don't know a lot, they don't know I love Rubba Undies, that I speak my own language (well, some of them do...), or that I'm just weird, but you, my dears, YOU KNOW!!
So I was thinking, early into the morning hours today, what can I share? And I came up with a FEW things!
  • I have odd sleeping habits. This may or may not be something you want to know, but it's not what you think! I HAVE to sleep with a little pillow that I can fold, fluff, or whatever. It gets REALLY nasty looking after a while, so I have SEVERAL little throw pillows that I use. I also, sometimes, fall asleep with one of my legs tossed over my husband's sleeping body. It all started when I was pregnant with Cameron. I HAD to have more room between my legs for my growing belly so I got into the habit of tossing my top leg over my husband's hip. It's worked marvelously, unless he's working graveyards, then I have to pile up my blankets and throw my leg over them! Speaking of throwing my leg over my blankets....when I get over-heated at night, I have to throw ONE leg over the blanket onto the outside of the covers...just one. On those rare nights when I'm REALLY warm, I just sleep with NO blankets, whatsoever, but those nights are very RARE!! And just for an odd fact, I MUST MUST MUST sleep with some sort of clothing on! MUST!! (Usually it's just my under clothes, but I have NEVER been able to sleep completely matter how hot I was, or how long ago it was...must wear clothes!! MUST!!) My final odd sleeping behavior...I snore. Loud and proud, honey!
  • I've come to a new point in my life. Most of you know about my struggle with we've been trying for a second child now for 5 years, my diagnosis of PCOS, my constant depression over it....for the last week or so I've come to a NEW turn (which may or may NOT last...) I don't really care whether I have more kids or not. I've FINALLY come to that peace I've been looking for. I don't know HOW I got it, but I am at peace! Right now, in my life I just want to enjoy my time with my son (who takes up a LOT of time with his doctor's appointments, his special needs...) and mostly just enjoying quiet times with Steve. In a lot of ways, I just want to enjoy MY family, the three of us. I'm not saying that if I do get pregnant again that I won't love it, but right now, I'm at peace!! (THANK GOODNESS!!)
  • I have fairly prophetic dreams. Okay, I'm not saying EVERY dream I have comes true, but more and more, I'm finding that dreams I had, MANY MANY years ago, are coming true. When I was little I dreamed about a house. Not a monster, but a pretty big house. It had brick and green shutters. There was one corner where there was a bush and a window with NO window there. In my dream, I lived in that house. This dream was a LONG time when I was 10 or 11. LONG time ago. Anyway, that dream came true when my parents built their new house. I may have to find a camera to show you the corner I'm talking about, but when we were moving things into the house I had the WEIRDEST sense of dejá vu. Then I remembered my dream! I've also dreamed about Steve WAY before I met him, Cameron and the problems he has WAY before he was born....And lately I've been having dreams about a little girl who is just a beauty, who is the apple of everyone's eye. Maybe it's one of these prophetic dreams?? Who knows!
  • I am a MAJOR worrier. I don't know of anyone in my family who worries like me. (My sister is also a worrier, but she worries about DIFFERENT things...) My worries are really odd, but drive my sweet husband crazy! If he's ever late coming home from work, I will seriously let my mind wander and come up with the craziest scenario! In my mind I'll think, "He's dead, he's been in a huge car accident, and is dying on the side of the road." "He's finally seen what a crazy he's married and he's finally decided to leave me for someone else." "He's been kidnapped! I'll never see him again, because I can't come up with the ransom!" YES, I'm crazy!! None of these have EVER come true, but whenever he's late, and doesn't mind goes insane with worry and uncontrollable fears. (Thankfully, since he's gotten used to my odd behavior he calls!! And it's gotten EVEN better since he takes the cell phone with him!!)
  • I have my own form of OCD. It's not diagnosed, but it's still there. I HAVE to count things in threes. When I get upset over something I've said that was stupid, I'll count to three over and over in my head until I feel peace. I MUST have things in place. I can't stand having my socks in my pajama drawer....they must be in the top drawer of my dresser!! My clothes MUST be folded the same way, every time. If they aren't, I'll just do it myself, again!! (This is the reason I don't let Steve fold my laundry...I'm sure it just BREAKS his heart that I have to fold my own laundry...) Yes, I have OCD, what are you going to do about it!?

Okay, a few things that no one really knew about me. I hope it satisfies, because I can't think of anything else I can share without getting to the secrets that I've only ever shared with Steve!! (And will ONLY ever share with him!)

Just to warn you, this question is from Kelly. So, beware!
What exactly did you get your hubby for Valentine's Day?
I got him a present that he loves! :) If you MUST know the exact details, I'll email them to you...just because I know there are some who DON'T want to know all those details!

Any question eh? Um....what did you have for lunch today?
Sad thing....I haven't eaten ANYTHING yet today!! NOTHING!! (Haven't even taken my pills!!) I'd better get busy! (When I DO eat, I'll let you know!)
Now that I've had lunch, I ate:
Spicy BBQ chicken bites from Walmart (small container), broccoli slaw/salad from Walmart (small container), and 6 big red grapes...from Walmart!! (Can you tell where I went shopping today!?)

How can I get my curtains fluffy instead of flat??? :)
So I'm no expert when it comes to curtains, but have you tried ironing them. (UGH! I hate ironing, but if it's for a good cause...) Or maybe you can toss them in the dryer for a few minutes. I really have no other suggestions...but good luck! :) They look marvelous!

Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Explain. What do you think made you this way?
I always thought of myself as an optimist, but now that I'm older, and a bit wiser, I think I've become more of a pessimist. It's pretty sad, but I've come to learn that sometimes life is hard, and while we shouldn't dwell on the bad things all the time, sometimes it just feels better to wallow. I hope that one day I can be one of those glass-half-full people. Until then, I'll keep trying to change my perspective!

-My favorite all time food is chocolate.
-I am giggling at the second question...(LOVE Monty Python and the Holy Grail)...My guess (since, I'm no expert) is 52.341 miles per hour. (That is ONE speedy birdie!)
-I haven't seen Lynette since she's moved here...I've been meaning to though...I did drive past their new apartment last week....
-My kidlet is in school now, and most days, I just watch grown-up television. Or I'll clean the house. Or on those SPECIAL days, I'll go online, and not let anything bother me!
-I say 6 fingers!

I'll go with what will you do when your little guy is in school too, I always wonder what people do when they have no kids at home. (it's been 19 years since I have experienced that so I really don't know)
Honestly, I'm really boring when Cam is at school. I enjoy my time, but normally, I'm pretty boring...unless I'm babysitting, which, lately, I haven't been.
I'll just stay at home and turn on Good Morning America/ER on TNT, then The View. (Yeah, not the MOST uplifting television...) Then usually I'll clean up in between commercials...vacuuming, putting dishes in the kitchen, putting those dishes in the dishwasher, fixing my throw-blankets on my couches.
After the View I'll watch TLC's What Not to Wear (not that I ever FOLLOW what the gurus say, but I get SOME good tips. SOME!) When commercials come on that show I'll flip to How It's Made on Discovery...I LOVE that show!! It's SO cool! By this time, my loneliness has vanished, and I realize that soon I'll have to leave to pick Cameron up from school. But that doesn't stop me from changing the channel, yet again, to watch Dharma and Greg on FX. I love this's just so funny, in a crazy karma type way! By the end of the show, it's time to get Cameron, but I have satisfied my adult television cleaned up somewhat!
On my big day off from Cam, Fridays, I skip most of my regular television schedule, and play on the internet...mostly doing FREE-FOR-ALL FRIDAY! :) There you have it. Honestly, I could be doing SO much more, but I'm not!

Do you have a favorite disco song?
I LOVE disco songs...they remind me of cleaning days growing up. My mom would throw on one of her old records (she's SO old....yeah, right!! She was only 18 when she had me...) and most of those records were 70's disco stuff!
If I could listen to ANY disco song over and over...I would have to pick Dancing Queen, by ABBA. LOVE them!! It's really funny now, because the fashion of that day is SO hilarious. My mom, in her nostalgia, bought an ABBA has some of their original music videos. We watched them one night and laughed and sung for a long time. I *HEART* disco music!! (I also love ANYTHING from the BeeGees!!)

Peaceful and Happy

Feeling much better. I'll just summarize this break-down as, "marital problems." We've been through things like this before, but now I'm feeling MUCH better! (Yes, Steve and I are doing fine!)
I'll just say that reading November's Ensign and studying my scriptures has really helped! (And talking with Steve helped a TON! Love ya, Hon!)

Shock, Sadness, Frustration...ALL at Once

After my post yesterday, I had something pretty upsetting happen. I'm not going to go into details, mostly because I don't know the FULL story myself yet, but I may not be up to blogging for a while.
Update: It's nothing family is fine, but mentally, I'm not all together with it.

I've had a lot on my mind lately. It has to do with faith, and building my life on a sure foundation, which is Christ.
One of my dear cousins has decided that the Church is no longer true, and wants nothing to do with it. I guess I'm just having a hard time seeing how someone who I thought was SO strong, could fall so hard, so fast!
The last year of her life has been pretty traumatic. She's had a best friend commit suicide. I don't know if it started before his death, but she took it REALLY hard.
I guess when people are in shock, and don't know what to say, they can say some really stupid things. She was told over and over that her friend wouldn't be judged because of the state of mind he was in, but then she was told he'd go to Hell for some of the other bad choices he'd made.
My problem HERE is, no one is in any place where they can honestly judge this poor kid. NO ONE!! Not me, not his parents, not even his friends. God is the only one that I know of, who knows this young man's heart and mind so thoroughly, that HE can know what was really going on.
Anyway, she's had a bumpy road, and I just worry about her.
I know for ME that I would be spiraling out of control in a pit of depression, worldliness, and fear, hurt, and anger WITHOUT the gospel in MY life. My knowledge of the truthfulness of this Church, sometimes, is the ONLY thing that gets me through a rotten day. THE ONLY THING! I know that with God's help, that I can fix the mistakes I've made, and work harder at being the person I hope to become.
And I know WITHOUT a DOUBT that where I am, what I'm doing, and who I'm trying to be is in alliance with God's plan. I KNOW it. Nothing anyone around me will say can change my mind. I know!
Where did I get such a sure knowledge?? From my faith. My belief that things in my life are directly from God. Noticing the little things around me that I consider miracles. The budding of a flower. A beautiful sunset. A bird in flight. My son, picking up a new concept that has previously been hard for him. The love I feel for my husband. The love I feel FROM my Father. There are SO many things that I see that let me know that God truly is mindful of me.
I ache because my cousin no longer has the whole picture in front of her. I hope and pray for her constantly. I wish that someday, she will come back, and know, as I do, that her foundation can get her through ANYTHING.
I've been wondering, if everyone around me, my husband, my parents, my siblings, EVERYONE suddenly fell away from the Church. (Yeah, it's a LONG shot, but go with me on the mentality of the thought.) Would I be able to stand up for the things I've been taught and KNOW are true? Would I have the strength to continue on, ON my own, without any crutches to hold me up? Am I as SURE of my testimony as I should be?
After much thought, and prayer, I've come to the conclusion that yes, I can be that strong, but I must continue to cultivate and build up that foundation. I MUST! Just because I have this renewed determination doesn't mean that the path will be easy, but it's a road that I need to travel. Something that I must do, before the storms of temptation, doubt, and hopelessness come. It's like the song, "The Wise Man and the Foolish Man." I MUST build my house on the rock, so that when the rains come down, and the floods come up, my house on the rock will stay firm!

My Feet are Swollen, and They Kinda Stink...

Today was VERY interesting! We spent it moving Steve's parents out of their dilapidated old home and into a very trendy apartment. (Okay, so the apartment feels like it's in a retirement community, but it's SO much nicer than their house was!!)
For YEARS we've been concerned with the building his parents called home. (I can officially say "called!" YAY!!) It leaked, it smelled like mildew had a doggie, and they had a very stinky baby....The upstairs was not level...I went up there for the first time EVER, and felt like I was going to fall through the floor!! It was FREAKY! Things were constantly breaking on them, and it was just a BAD place to live. It should have been condemned decades ago...and not just recently!
Anyway, we woke up pretty early and, borrowing my dad's AWESOME diesel truck, drove the hour to their home. We got the list of things that were to go to the new apartment and things that were supposed to go to their storage space, and his parents left us with some young, energetic Elders! (Yay for helpful priesthood holders!) Within an hour we had the main things packed and ready to go! It was AMAZING! We had one truck, that also had a trailer, drive to the apartment and we took my dad's truck to the storage place. WE had EVERYTHING unloaded super fast!!
We did a LOT of running from one place to the other, even a quick trip to my brother-in-law's apartment, and another quick stop for lunch. It was nice! We talked, laughed and constantly commented on how GLAD we were that they were OUT of that place!
After being on my feet all day they are EXTREMELY swollen and very stinky. (Even if I had just worn my shoes for a few minutes they would smell this bad...I just smell bad!) I'm REALLY glad to be home, and now that I've told my quick synopsis of the day, I'm glad to be going to bed...and VERY glad that I've got 1:00 church!! YAY!

Yay! I didn't miss out on the fun.
O.k., Dawnyel, here is your question:
What are five things that make you giggle?
Suzanne: 1. A child's laugh/giggle.
2. My family at dinnertime (honestly, I can hardly eat sometimes...)
3. Dumb jokes (usually the ones from little kids, or that I'll read in the Reader's Digest.)
4. Me (yeah, I make myself laugh ALL the time...usually over someone else's mistakes.)
5. Joking with my husband.

What country is Sarajevo in? What country did it USED to be in?
Millie: Make me use Google this early in the morning?? (Okay, so it's nearly 10:00....)
So far, I've noticed that there are references to Kosovo and Bosnia Herzegovina. Which is which?? Wait and I'll get to the bottom of it!
Now, lest you think I'm plagiarizing, I found this definition here:
Sa·ra·je·vo (săr'ə-yā'vō, sär'ə-yĕ-')
The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the south-central part of the country southwest of Belgrade, Serbia. Built on the site of an ancient settlement, it fell to the Turks in 1429 and passed to Austria-Hungary in 1878. The assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife here on June 28, 1914, triggered the outbreak of World War I. After the war Sarajevo was incorporated into Yugoslavia. It became the capital of independent Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992. Population: 696,000.
AND Bosnia and Herzegovina used to be Yugoslavia. AH HA!! Now we've solved that mystery! And I was trying to add a pretty picture of Sarajevo in winter, but Blogger won't let me!! So visit that site I showed above! *sigh*

What is the most disgusting thing you have ever seen? smelled? tasted?
Carrie: You have something with disgusting things! ;)
So while I was at the dentist I came up with some answers, the only narrow it down to the MOST disgusting. So my only solution was a list of finalists!
On most disgusting things seen: 3. When my mom and I found my great-grandmother dead in her home. (Yeah, not good memories there...) 2. The rotting corpse of a dead horse that mattsmom and I went to get bugs off of for Honor's Biology. THE MOST disgusting thing I've ever seen: the bloated, rotting, maggot covered body of my pet cat, Slim. (Yeah, you were there for THAT one!) It's something that I will NEVER get out of my mind...ever!
On most disgusting things smelled: 3. Fresh skunk sprayed on my friend's dog when I was pregnant with Cameron. It's bad enough when you're NOT pregnant, but to have that heightened sense of smell....EW! 2. Those rotting bodies of the horse and the cat tie for this one. Pyew! The MOST disgusting thing I've ever smelled: My brother and his friend trying to cremate a rotting crow. They did it when we were camping when I was 13, and that smell filled the ENTIRE place...people on the lake could smell it...It was DISGUSTING!!
On most disgusting things I've tasted: 3. Some of my medicines dissolving on my tongue prior to me swallowing them. 2. That nasty stroganoff that I ate a few weeks ago....EW! The MOST disgusting thing I've tasted: It's actually a tie between two things...both related! One time I was tossing Cameron in the air (he was maybe 6 or 7 months old) and I brought him down to my mouth to give him a kiss, and he puked in my mouth! The second is anytime I get bad acid reflux and accidentally puke in my own mouth and swallow it. YUCK!

Where HAVE You Been?

So I found this fun thing at Millie's place. I thought it was fun! What it is, is a map that shows the states I've visited. (Yes, pathetic, I know!) You can make your OWN map here. Join in the us where you've been! :)
(And yes, the farthest EAST I've been is Carthage, Illinois...But I wish I could add that I've also been to Canada...then it wouldn't seem so pathetic, right?!)
