Ressurection Time? I Think So...Free For All Friday is back!

I've been pretty bad at blogging lately. I think the lure of Facebook and other things has kept me from updating my blog or telling my stories here. It's almost easier to type up a simple status update rather than the whole story on my blog. So I have a solution: Free for all Friday is back.
For those who don't know: If you want to ask me a question – and anything goes – here’s your chance. You can ask about whatever you wish, no holds barred. I’ll either answer honestly, or I’ll tell you that I won’t answer.
Ready....Set.......GO!!!

What is the funniest thing the boys have done this week?
Jewelle:
Jake's is easy to remember....I might have to come back when I think of Cam's.
On Tuesday night, we were at my parents' house. It was my mom's birthday, and I had bought her some obnoxious things: a funny card (she said it wasn't as funny as I thought though), a cake, and a balloon. The balloon was a hit....for Jake. He would NOT leave the thing alone.
After playing with it for a while, he found a water balloon, uninflated. He took it to my dad and asked him to blow it up. My dad began blowing it up.
Now, imagine if you can: Jake, standing next to my dad's recliner, watching intently while another balloon is inflated. My dad, turning a little purple in the face, because, well, water balloons aren't MEANT to be blown up. And finally, my dad's black Pomeranian, LuLu...innocently lying in his lap.
Suddenly, the balloon popped. LuLu took off, running. Jake jumped backward....and my dad started laughing. My younger brother began chasing the dog, trying to comfort her, and Jake was in AWE of the loud noise.
At this point, the rest of us are busting a gut because LuLu's reaction was SO funny. Soon, Jake begins throwing blankets around, swinging his head back and forth....HE'S LOOKING FOR THE BALLOON!! Oh, my gosh! We are laughing even HARDER now....
Oh, it was SO funny! Jake never DID find the balloon.

Summer, winter, spring, or fall?
Elena:
Fall is my ABSOLUTE favorite. (I think I may have mentioned it before....) I love fall because I got married in the fall (which made for a BEAUTIFUL backdrop for some of the pictures...), my first baby was born in the fall (4 days before my first anniversary!), and I love the colors, smells and coolness in the air. It's so wonderful, and I can feel a tinge of it in the air now! :D

do you enjoy breastfeeding or do it b/c it's best for baby?
what is your favorite time of day with Jacob?
Is Cam adjusting better to being a big brother?
Amy:
I LOVE breastfeeding. The reason I do it is because I heard of the amazing bonding that comes between mother and child when feeding. I never got the chance to do that with Cam, because he never knew how to suck properly. I felt like I'd missed out on being a "true mother" because with Cam I had a c-section AND couldn't nurse him. I felt like I'd missed a HUGE part of becoming a mom. (Not that there's anything wrong with what I had done, but that's how I'd felt.)
So when I had Jake I'd determined that I was going to try as hard as I could to get him to nurse. Imagine my disappointment when one of his nurses informed me that he didn't know how to suck. I felt crushed! But I didn't give up. I'd consulted the lactation consultant and tried and tried and tried until he finally latched on and ate like a pro.
Honestly, breastfeeding is one of the best feelings I get from this child. The connection is amazing, and I don't have to get up and make bottles in the middle of the night....HECK, I don't have to worry about proper temperatures or ANYTHING like that. My milk is ALWAYS the proper temperature and mixture! ;)
I love it when after Jake's nursed he snuggles up to me and naps. (He's doing it now!) He's not usually too snugly with me (mostly because I smell like dinner....) so once he's fed and sleepy he'll cuddle up to me and I just LOVE it!
Cam absolutely LOVES being a big brother, although he does feel like he doesn't get enough holding time. He's constantly reminding me that he didn't get to hold Jacob. My problem with him holding the baby is that he doesn't know how to control the baby yet, and both of them will end up in all sorts of odd positions. I just worry that he will hurt Jake, although I know it's something that he needs to learn, I want him to learn when I'm right there the whole time.

What kind of sling do you have - and do you like it?
Deanna:
Uh, I hate to admit this, but I'm just borrowing this sling. I don't know what kind of sling it is. I know it's got 2 rings that I can use to adjust the tension and it's padded, but that's all I know.
It's actually taken both of us a while to get used to the sling. I think that the more we use it, the better it will be. (Jake is snuggled into the sling right now while I type.) I just need to get him in the position that HE likes. Laying in the nursing position (what I like to call, "assuming the position") is NOT his favorite. He actually likes to be up and down, kinda smooshed between my boobs! :P But yeah, I do like it. I'm sure that once we get better used to it that I'll even be able to manage cleaning my house while wearing the sling! ;)

As for being almost done....:P

Hooray! I usually don't ask question, but I like to see other's questions and your answers! you're always so clever...but today i'm going to ask a question - or two:
1. Who do you think is having the hardest time adjusting - you, cam, or your hubby?
2. What's your favorite quirk about your new little guy (I've already forgotten his name...it will come to me...or not)?
Deanna:
1. I think the one who's having the hardest time is Cam. I know that he's feeling left out of a LOT of things....he's craving more mama and daddy time that we just can't quite give him. He's been an only-lonely for 7 1/2 years, so adjusting is going to take some time....I just hope that I can help him understand that we still love him as much as we did before baby Jake came. Until then, I just try to make him feel loved and listened to!
2. The cutest thing that Jacob does is laugh. Yes, he does. But when he does it he does it in his sleep. His laugh is SO stinkin' adorable. He doesn't make ONE noise, but his whole head just jiggles with the laughter! I can't wait until he laughs on purpose! :D

Scrappy:
(Um, you totally made Steve laugh hysterically at this one!)
I honestly don't know how it happens, but it's the same process that turns a little bit of milk into TONS of poop! (Jakey's diapers are starting to overflow now! How in the world did this happen!?)

FFAF on Hold....and some other things

So the word is that the computer is half-way fixed!! YAY!! Seriously, I love both my home teacher and his wife (who is my visting teacher!) They're such great people!! :)
This week has been pretty uneventful....which is a good thing!! I did take a GNO with some computer friends and they threw me a surprise baby shower. It was SO much fun!! I got tons more cute outfits and someone has given me a gift certificate for birth announcements. I have seen some of her work, and honestly, she's AWESOME!! All in all it was a night full of fun laughs, good food (crappy service, but that's a whole 'nother rant....) and good times. I SO love my MOFs!!
Yesterday was Steve's 31st birthday and it was wonderful! He said he had a freak-out moment where he realized he's 31 and he'll have TWO kids as of next week. (I kind of laughed at him....it took him THIS long to realize all of that?!) I ended up getting him a "singing" card....it was Star Wars...TOTALLY him! Then I got him the 2 editions of Gordon B. Hinckley discourses, which he's been begging for forever!! I totally shocked him...I think! ;) Then we went out to dinner as a family and ate ice cream cake. This was the first birthday of his that we've actually had a birthday cake for the man in our whole marriage. (Usually we're off camping for Memorial Day, and it kinda gets pushed off to the side.) I think it was a good day....happy birthday, Sweetie!!
My parents left the country this week....they went on their annual fishing trip to Canada, and I'm severely missing them. Every ache or pain I worry that they won't be here for the birth of this baby, but so far, things are going well, and they'll be back 2 days before the scheduled C-section!
I've decided to put free-for-all-Friday on hold for a while. Seeing how I don't really have access to a computer (unless I'm not at home...) and the fact that I'm about to pop out a baby in a week....It will return, but not for a while! Sorry!
We've also put Cameron in the Learning Center 3 days a week. He's SO excited to be going there. I think the kid THRIVES on structure, and I'm not structured at all. Starting next week we've even lined up transportation for while I'm recovering from the C-section. He's so happy to be doing things, and I'm glad he's out of the house. (Does that make me a bad mommy!?)
And today is my final day babysitting until AFTER baby Jacob is here. The kid is hilarious, and I'm going to miss having him around for a while, but I am going to enjoy having just MY kids around!
Anyway, that's what's going on in my life. I swear, I will post pictures when I get my computer back....PROMISE! :)

Have you missed me these last 2 Fridays? :)

And where HAVE you been?? I have missed you!

Are you still having contractions or have they stopped?
~Jewelle
Jewelle:
Still having them, although they're not TOO bad. I even went in for my second NST this week, and they didn't detect any! *phew* Steve thought for SURE that I was going to have a baby last night! :D
(For those who DON'T know, I was having all sorts of contractions for about 30 minutes last night. I kept having them on and off, but nothing really bad. I'm sure it's just those Braxton Hicks Contractions I've heard about. The only REAL problem I'm having is that sometimes my contractions will bother me enough that I get a severe back-ache....otherwise, no problems!)

Plus, how many times did you have to get up last night to go potty?
Carrie:
Uh, no packing of the bag yet...although, it's been on my mind a LOT lately (especially when I was having contractions for a half hour last week!) I just don't remember what kinds of things to PACK! :P
Five times....I think! :P

Okay- I suck, a thought just hit me-- why is it you have to schedule a c-section? I know it's personal, but I was curious... I've only had 2 close friends have c-sec, one was an emergency one afte rmany hours of labor- the other, her doc let her decide how she wante dto deliver, and she had no desire to experience labor. :)
e being nosey... feel free to tell me to shut up.
Melzie:
You're not nosy!! :)
I'm having a c/s because I had one with Cameron.
With that boy, I was in labor for 23 hours and felt NO contractions, and no labor pains. (Don't feel jealous....it ended up with me HAVING to have a c/s.) My blood pressure instantly dropped when the doctor had me get the epidural, and that initiated an emergency c/s, because they lost Cam's heartbeat. In the end they got it back before delivery, but still did the c/s because I was NOT progressing.
All that ever came down of the child was the skin on the top of his head. (My mom and husband told me that he had a point on top for a while.)
After that, we asked my doctor whether I HAD to do c/s for every child I had after or if I could try for a VBAC. He said, we COULD try, but would most likely end up having a c/s anyway. So I've just planned on having all of my children c/s. (Plus, my doctor told me recently that the baby is now SO big, that "it's a good thing you're doing c-sections!")

Free For All Friday (and some exciting news)

At the beginning of the year my cousin gave us a car. It wasn't fancy or anything, and we decided to let my youngest brother drive it until he left on his mission....
WELL....
This last weekend the transmission went out on it, and replacing the transmission is not even worth saving this car. So instead, we've traded the dud in for a stud.
This is the new baby, a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. My boys are in LOVE!! It's so cute, and not bad on the gas mileage.
It's also Friday....

Don't you think my baby is cute? :p (Come see her at my blog...)
Are you SO EXCITED to be just one month away? Are you frantically trying to get things done like we did the last month (and didn't quite get them all done in time?) And have you bought the going home outfit yet? And do you have MATCHY outfits yet? :D :D :D
Anne:
She's a DOLL! (And now that I know she's here I'm going to have to go back and read about her just a little bit more!)
I can't wait to have our baby. We've got almost everything finished...and I just wait for this pain to go away and hold my little guy in my arms. Seriously, I CANNOT wait!
Right now, we're in the middle of cleaning up our bedroom so that we'll have room for the playpen/bassinett. So far, we're doing okay, except we've got a TON of crap in piles in the room. A quick trip to DI will help that, I'm SURE!
I have a few cute outfits to bring him home in....haven't decided exactly WHICH one yet, but will soon. (And no on the matchy outfits....it's hard to find them in such extremes in sizes...)

How did you get to be so lucky to have such crystal blue eyes?
Why are 2.5 year olds so impossible?
Gina:
Uh, I didn't realize it was luck! My mom has blue eyes and my dad has green, I was destined for light colored eyes either way. (Just like my kiddos are....) If you want to see BEAUTIFUL crystal blue eyes, look into my son's eyes. Honestly, they're almost transparent!! SO pretty!
I think 2.5 year old are impossible, because they're trying to develop those personalities just a little bit more. They want what they want, but can't quite communicate the way they need to get what they want. Yeah, it's a pain....:P

Mattsmom:
Why are you anonymous today? :P
You know, having a sister isn't really what you THINK it would be. Sure it's fun to have another girl around, but really, the hormones, the fights, the clashing personalities....yeah, it's NOT what you think. Brothers are SO much easier when it comes to emotional problems.
This is NOT to say that I don't love my sister...I do, but somedays, it's easier to deal with my brothers....

Stevie:
I'm having a hard time coming up with an answer to that question right now. Honestly, it varies from day to day.
If you want to find what KIND of music I listen to, check out one of the "young country" stations on the radio. I love most of the songs they play on those channels....
But favorite song of the moment?? Yikes, I'm going to think on that one for a while!

I finally thought of a question! How did you and your family like Ruby River? What did you get, and would you recommend it?~Jewelle
Jewelle:
We LOVED Ruby River. The food was EXCELLENT!! (Although a bit pricy!)
I would have LOVED a steak (I've been craving a good one for a while) but since rare meat is a no-no when pregnant, I ended up getting the smothered chicken....minus the mushrooms, substituted sauteed onions. It was SO good, but with a squished tummy, I had to take most of my food home. (And I LOVED the deep fried baked potato...even though it's NOT the healthiest food around....)
I've BEEN recommending it since. With a disclaimer that the food is DELICIOUS, but pricey!

And just for fun, my baby brother (who's birthday happens to be TODAY) got his mission call last night. We figured since my other brothers served state-side, he would too, but we were wrong. Braiden will be serving in the Phillippines Quezon mission. He leaves July 30th for the MTC. Because of the late date, he'll get to be here when Jacob is born. SO I'm excited on two accounts!! YAY!!
Also, my other brother, Daren is graduating from BYU-I today in applied math with an economics minor. He's hoping to become an actuary. He's so smart!! Congrats to him!! And Happy birthday to Braiden!!

There was only this ONE name for our baby. I realize most people go through a lot of names before deciding on THE name, but I got this name long before the baby was even concieved. We did have a few middle name changes, but we've settled on THE right one.
The weirdest food I've EVER eaten is probably frog legs, and you know, it is just like everyone says, "It tastes JUST like chicken!!"

What is Jacob's delivery date? I know you told me you tried to set it up...but I can't remember when it is.
Have you ever asked Steve to go out late at night after a strange food craving for you?
Mattsmom:
The date we've tenatavely set is June 5th. I VERY desperately want to see if I can convince my doctor to schedule the C-section for 06-07-08....wouldn't that be a COOL date!? But since it's a Saturday, I don't think I'll be able to get it. Who in their right mind would SCHEDULE work for a weekend if they can avoid it!? ;)
And no, I haven't asked Steve to get me any food late at night. I guess I'm pretty mellow when it comes to those kinds of things. (Plus, I usually convince myself that my random, yeah, random, not so much strange cravings, will eventually fizzle out and I'll crave something else...)
