Can't Turn My Back for Even 5 Minutes...

While I was getting dressed and doing some laundry, I stuck Jake in his crib. (Knowing that he would be safest there, well, the house would be safest if he was put there, anyway!)

I notice that he's not crying when I walk by his bedroom door. Hmmmm....curious.

When I get back, I notice he's QUITE content. Sitting in his bed EATING M&Ms!!

When he was only a few weeks old, the Relief Society Presidency brought over a few gifts. A blanket with his name on it and a little bundle of socks, filled with M&Ms. I've had to use special socks for this boy, the kind that stay up around his pudgy ankles, so I've just left the socks alone. Today, they were used for the first time...to fill a whiny 10-month-old's tummy.

I asked him what he was doing, and he looked up at me with his HUGE grin, boogers everywhere, and drooling M&Ms and chocolate ALL OVER his fresh clothes!!

*sigh*

He's cute, but SUCH a little terrorist!! ;)

So as I'm on the computer, I notice he's yanked his socks OFF his feet. *sigh* He's definitely one who LOVES to be nude....

Birthday Dinner

For my brother, Daren. (He's now a ripe old 27 years old.) What a fun dinner. :) Gotta love my family!

Do You Ever....

....feel like you're talking to a wall??

I try to say what I'm thinking, even sometimes expounding as much as my little brain can, and STILL I'm not understood. In fact, it almost feels like I'm just talking to myself, because eyes are rolled.

*sigh*

.....think of something SO funny to blog about and then you totally forget what it was as SOON as you sit down to the computer?

UGH! I think sometimes I need a little note pad to remember the funnies Cameron says to us.

....wonder if other people go through the same things you're going through?

Sometimes I feel alone with the things I am dealing with, but then I think, "This could be SO much worse..."

....ask rhetorical questions to yourself??

I guess I just shouldn't answer myself then.

Potential Sleep-Walker??

Steve and I are sitting here, watching late night television (well, I'm playing on the computer...) and Jake has fallen asleep on the floor. Poor boy, he was SO tired.

Then just a few minutes ago, he woke up. (Well, he SAT up.) Played with his book for a minute or two, then he fell back down with a THUD, SOUND ASLEEP!

Cute Little Kids on Easter

Our Easter was very nice, if you don't count the countless runny noses and sore throats. My sister was in town for the weekend, and we got a newer picture of the three grandkids from my side of the family. (Along with some fun pictures of my boys...)

Jake has now discovered how to take his clothes off. He's gonna be one of thsoe kids who likes to run around in public IN THE NUDE! ;) Heaven help us.

Rumble, Rumble

This morning I woke up to quite a noise going on outside my front door. It sounded like Cameron's bus, and I was constantly checking to see if they'd come early, but it wasn't his bus.

Instead I found my landlord outside with his son pulling out the bushes that line our apartment complex. Those bushes have been known to house spiders and mice and all sorts of other icky things. I've always *hoped* that someday they would leave us, and that day is HERE! As I write they're outside improving the look of the front of our building. YAY!

Wishful Thinking?

Twice in the last week I've had very summer-y dreams. Both of them took place at amusement parks.

In the first one, I went with my family to our favorite park. (Just a few hours away...and SOOO much fun!) While we were there, I HAD to go on my favorite loopy-loop roller-coaster. I got in (and for some reason, none of my family was with me on the ride.) and we took off. As the ride started, everything was fine. We went through the first loop and then the ride broke down and we were stuck at the bottom (not upside-down *phew*) of the second loop. For some reason the people running the ride wouldn't let us get off. It was a LONG dream, but that's all I remember of it.

Then last night, I had another amusement park-y dream. In THIS one I was with my family (again) at a different place. I don't even think it exists... We were at someone's house, I think. ANYWAY, they had a maze of red water-slides. The slides would tangle around each other and you would race other families to get to the bottom fastest. They had cameras installed in each tube and if you weren't racing, you could watch each team's progress. I didn't go down the tube (I think I used Jake as my excuse) and watched as my family raced down the tube in a comfy couch. The couch was teal green and not really waterproof, or even MEANT to be in the tube, but it was there. And nicely enough, the tube was large enough for the couch and possibly 3 or 4 more couches to fit in it. You knew who won because at the end of the tube a sensor was set up with a cascading waterfall. It looked almost like the film a bubble makes on a wand before you blow a bubble. So as my family is racing down the tube, they realized half-way through that the couch was slowing them down, so they all jumped off (and the couch stayed IN the tube) and they finished...coming in 2nd, I think.

Anyway, all of these warmer weather dreams are getting to me. Happily I think it will be a warmer day today. No sign of snow so far. *knock on wood* I just think it's funny that my mind is taking me on summer vacation already! *giggle*

On a quick side-note, I LOVED Conference this last weekend. It was SO wonderful to hear from our leaders and get their support and happy words. (I fell asleep during one FULL session...my dad thought Steve was snoring when it was me! :S) What I did hear was great, and very positive.

Have I mentioned how much I love hearing from a prophet on the Earth? He's such a wonderful man! :) And I whole-heartedly agree that the music in each session was BEAUTIFUL!! I'm so glad that during one session they sang one of MY favorites (and apparently one of President Monson's favorites) "Consider the Lillies."

*sigh* I'm a little sad it's over, but I can't wait to get my Ensign and read the messages again!

Poor Cam though, he did complain, quite loudly, that he would rather go to church because, "I love my class, mama!" ;)

Spring?

Spring is my absolute favorite time of the year, but where is it?

Wishes DO Come True

For a while I've been bummed that I missed out on seeing President Monson's famous ear wiggle. It happened at a Priesthood session, which means only the guys got to see it. But thanks to YouTube and Deseret Book it's now available to see. YAY!! (And it's pretty funny too!)

I have to say that I think the Prophet is just dang cute!! :)

Binkie Weaning: Day 3

Jake's been a bit grumpier than usual, but so far we haven't even given him the plug when he goes to bed at night.
He is drinking more from his sippy cup and nursing a bit more.

Binkie Weaning: Day 2

Nap times for the past few days have been a LITTLE rough, but nothing too hard to handle. Although I was tempted to just get the dang thing and plug his mouth so he'd stop squirming so much. Eventually, after many position shifts and lots of calming and soothing naps DID happen.

One thing I've noticed Jake doing more is babbling. He's SO noisy! I never realized it before because he had his mouth plugged up with the binkie. Family Home Evening last night was so hard to hear! The kid was constantly "BUH buh BUHHHH!! Ma-ma DAAAAAAA!! Guuuh!! Mama!!" At one point, after throwing something on the floor, he babbled a bit and then yelled, "MAMA!!" I guess that was MY cue to pick it up for him! *eye roll*

Anyway, he's also learning to spit with his tongue. He's getting pretty good at it too. Cameron's never gotten that down...and it's an important developmental step for speaking. (NO, seriously!!) He's just a cute, ENERGETIC boy!

Binkie Weaning: Day One

I'm tired of Jake dragging his binkie across the floor, and I also think he's getting a little too old to be contantly popping his binkie into his mouth (even in his sleep...) So I've decided that he will only have the binkie at bedtime. (Not even naptime, because the kid sleeps SO much...)

So far, he's doing well....but naptime WAS a bit rough!

Summing Up

Spring break officially ends on Monday when Cameron can go back to school. Both of us are thrilled. It's been a VERY long, yet short week.

I'm glad it's done, because I want to still love my child after this is over.

Am I the only one who gets tired of having a bored child ask me what's going to happen next? How about the only one who tells the child he's NOT in charge and to leave the baby alone? It's when Cameron's at school that Jake can actually do his own thing and just be ALONE!

*sigh*

Just a few more days....Spring break MIGHT have been a little more enjoyable if it hadn't snowed so dang much! *grumble*

A Day on Spring Break With MY Family

Today was quite fun. We went bowling, where Steve kicked butt, and I totally LOST (even to Cameron!)

Jake wanted to get in on the fun too!

Then I decided to get some actual Rubba Undies pictures....enjoy! (Yes, I did this IN the store, and was NOT ashamed!)

When Cameron was at therapy, Steve and I tried a new ice cream place (YUMMY!) and next door found a fun little gorilla. We HAD to take pictures with him.

Now we're winding down for the day. Cam has self-exiled himself to bed (he's been kinda ornery with the baby), Jake's pulling videos off the shelf, and crying for his missed naps today, and Steve is watching some random movie on tv. It's been quite a fun day! :)

Spring Break

This week is Spring Break, and I'm not quite sure whether Cameron is excited about it, or upset that his schedule has been altered.

Today's activities were watching videos while mama napped. (I never said that I didn't like Spring Break!) :)

Tomorrow the plan is to take Cam bowling. That ought to be fun!
