Mother's Curse?

When I was growing up, it wasn't uncommon to hear my mom say, "Someday, I hope you have a kid that treats you EXACTLY the way you treat me!" (Usually, it was after I'd said something HORRIBLE to her, like, "I HAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEE YOU!!!!!!!" Yeah, I was a HUGE brat!!)
I always figured the mother's curse was just something to say to kids like a scare-tactic. Never would REALLY happen.
HA HA!
Cameron has covered MY mother's curse (He has said "I hate you" to me MANY times, and thankfully, I'm not as soft as my sweet mom was. I know he doesn't mean it....just as I'm sure SHE knew I never hated her...)
BUT...
We have another curse coming into play here: STEVE'S mother's curse.
Thankfully, I've had two children, which means that my kids will each fulfill their destiny with our curses. Jake has inherited his father's curse. He throws tantrums.
WHY do I get to deal with HIS curse??
Let's ask the man himself, "Steve, why do I have to put up with YOUR curse?? What did I ever do to your mother??"
His response: "You married me."
Thanks, love! *eye roll*
Tantrums are a constant thing now. If I put the boy down, he squawks and bends his body backward. If I pick him up when he's getting into something he shouldn't be, he bends his body backward yelling. If he's put in a play pen or crib or car seat against his will....a complete 180 degree turn.
I'm sure he'll grow out of these tantrums SOMEDAY, but for now, I'm cursing the mother's curse.....and PROMISING my future daughters-in-law, I WILL NOT curse my sons. I don't want YOU to suffer...just them! ;)

Do You Ever....

....feel like you're talking to a wall??
I try to say what I'm thinking, even sometimes expounding as much as my little brain can, and STILL I'm not understood. In fact, it almost feels like I'm just talking to myself, because eyes are rolled.
*sigh*
.....think of something SO funny to blog about and then you totally forget what it was as SOON as you sit down to the computer?
UGH! I think sometimes I need a little note pad to remember the funnies Cameron says to us.
....wonder if other people go through the same things you're going through?
Sometimes I feel alone with the things I am dealing with, but then I think, "This could be SO much worse..."
....ask rhetorical questions to yourself??
I guess I just shouldn't answer myself then.

What to Say?

I can't tell you the number of times I've had perfect strangers come up to me and comment on how "gorgeous" my baby is. Now, don't take this to mean I'm bragging, because I'm just trying to make a point.
My point is, why do have these comments now and when I had Cameron I had very few? Not to say that Cam didn't get his fair share of, "look how cute that baby is" comments, but Jake seems to get WAY more.
Is it bad to feel sorry for Cam? He's a cute boy, but he definitely does look different from his brother. People will comment, and I wonder if it hurts his feelings.
Raising these two boys has been such an eye-opener for me. I've definitely noticed the things people have told me for years about Cameron's delays...only because I now see Jake's typical tendencies.
Jacob will be 6 months old on Saturday, and he can already roll around, scoot, sit by himself (well, for a few seconds anyway....probably no longer than a minute....), babble, make raspberries and the list goes on and on. When Cameron was this age it was SO different. And I mourn the fact that my little Cam is not typical.
On top of these non-typical behaviors, I hear over and over how good looking my other baby is.
What can I say?
I've even had some people mention to me that we should enter Jake into a "pretty baby" contest (which we will be doing soon....) But how do I make Cameron feel just as loved and as involved?
It's all so hard!

What To Do??

So since finding out I was going to be having a baby SO close to Memorial Day, I decided that I would just stay home and NOT go camping, well, some things have changed and I just don't know quite what to do!
The place we normally go camping to is, in all likelihood, still snowed in, or extremely muddy and gross. With this being the case, my family has decided to go to another less snowed in spot for camping. Since there's less snow there, there's less ruts and bumps to make for an uncomfortable me.
I don't have to take my tent. My parents just bought a brand new motor home and have invited me to sleep in it with them. They REALLY want me to go with them.
Here's the problem, I'm not so sure I feel up to camping. Sure, I'll be just as miserable at home, but at least at home I'm 10 minutes from the hospital if anything goes wrong. But I REALLY do want to go camping. It's one of my absolute favorite things in the whole world.
On top of all of this, I was hoping to spend more time with Steve. I mean, we've only got a few numbered weeks with just Cam and the two of us before I'll be busy with baby #2. I do want to spend as much time with him as possible.....
I just don't know what to do. What would you do?

Putting Up a Fight

Is it worth it to pick battles that you know you can't win?? Please discuss....I'm having problems with a "fight" that I had the other night, and I'm wondering now, if what I even said, whined, cried about was EVEN worth it....

Smelly

I'm dying from smell overdose!!
Today I walked into the church building and was hit in the face with the smell of sweaty bodies, BO, and bad breath!! Sitting through my meetings about did me in!
And when I was outside, it was a little muggy, but the smell is what got to me. I was smelling some pretty STINKY flowers! (And there aren't any flowers by my door....at ALL!) Pyew!!
Is there something you can do about overwhelming smells?! :)
